THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What would you say is the best children’s book you’ve ever read?
Today I am going to answer the random question: What would you say is the best children's book you've ever read?
I would have to say that my favorite children's book was actually a compilation of stories and poems called "The Bumper Book" written by Watty Piper, illustrated by Eulalie and published in 1946 by Platt & Munk.
I absolutely loved this book -- especially the alphabet rhyme and the poem "Vespers" also titled "Christopher Robin is Saying His Prayers" by A.A. Milne. It is a poem to his son, Christopher, who is, of course, Christopher Robin of Winnie the Pooh fame. I had the poem read to me so much as a child I memorized it and can recite it to this day.
This book was so dear to me that I have spent a good deal of money procuring copies for my grandchildren so they could have the same joy from it that I have always felt.
