To Kill A Mockingbird is on a lot of blogger lists. It has been too long, I need to reread this one.
Good list! I almost included "Mockingbird" and "Anne Frank" on my list, too. I found it really hard to limit myself to just fifteen books. I'm definitely gonna have to read "Bunnicula" one of these days.
I saw the movie they made from "Flowers in the Attic" not long ago, and was very disappointed. I thought the book was really creepy, but creepy in a good way - the movie was just sort of yucky.
Jess -- I actually would like to re-read it as well, as an adult -- I am sure my take on it would be completely different. Maybe once the pile of books waiting to be read goes down a bit.
JLSHall --I read "Mockingbird" about the same time I read "Morningstar" and they were really my first grown up books so they stuck with me. Since I always enjoyed historical reading, "Anne Frank" was a favorite but more because of the time period involved -- I mean, quite contemporary to us, in a way. that struck me as being so real.
The V.C. Andrews books won me over in the beginning but then, after her death, they were finished up or completely written by somebody else and they just didn't pack the punch that the first ones did. I know we couldn't get your mother to read them, though, because they were about children. The movie was a bust as far as I was concerned. It didn't do anything for me and I, too, was completely disappointed. I expected it to be like "The Haunting of Hill House" where the movie just expanded the book but it wasn't. And speaking of"The Haunting" wasn't the remake awful, even though it had Liam Neeson in it. Just awful.
You're the first to mention the Bobbsey Twins. Here's mine.
Jacqueline -- I loved the Bobbsey Twins and fell heir to a large number, if not all, of JLSHall's BT books. The last one I remember getting, for Christmas, was the one about the Tower of London. I have been an anglophile since birth and I absolutely loved the book.
To Kill A Mockingbird should be on my list too!
The Bible was #1 on my list as well. I also had To Kill a Mockingbird.

Actually, I could have made multiple lists with a little more time to think about it. Reading has always been a bit part of my life and there were memorable books at each stage. I left off "Better Homes and Gardens Baby Care"!
