The Brinkley Landscape Adventure Continued

As the adventure continues I realize I am sort of missing the thick grass that was in the yard -- I don't think we have ever had a lawn that lush. But, now it is just a memory. But, I look forward to good stuff arriving for planting next week.
The tell-tale markings of the landscaper

The French drain

All dug out ready for rebar and concrete! I know, it looks odd but it will look much more logical when the flower bed is put it.

You guys actually have a bigger backyard than I remembered. I was sort of assuming the patio would take up all the space - but I see it won't. Are you going to have a "water feature"? Maybe some mermaids spitting into a pond or something?

Yes, actually, for a "garden home' my yard is almost as big as the old house. It is all on the side though -- the back isn't huge. No, no water features. They just cause trouble. We have a little fountain that sits by the front door but we had to disconnect it because the water evaporated too quickly and we were filling it like four times a day and when it went dry it made a horrendous noise. Our neighbor has a little pond and it just attracts frogs so there is always a LOT of noise coming out of his little yard -- he does have a true garden home -- no yard at all hardly. Allen is on the fence as to which he would like -- he wanted no yard but still says he likes his yard so who knows -- it is hard to tell with him these days.

Update
