A View From A Window -- 14 June 2012


I haven't posted photos from the backyard in a while, what with the work going on in the front so here is an update --












So, there you have it.  The sunflower is an addition complements of the birds -- I guess they decided to join in the gardening because they were so grateful for all the food they are getting.  It was so charming we couldn't bring ourselves to pull it up!

Glad you left the sunflower, it will provide some much needed seeds at the end of the season...clever birds being able to grow their own food.
Do you have to water your garden a lot?

Yes, we are under water restrictions right now and can only water twice a week but the flower bed actually has a drip system that helps, we can run it more often. It is a series of soaker hoses under the mulch that will allow the area to be watered slowly and longer. It is very dry in North Texas -- and hot -- unlike South Texas which has breezes off the Gulf of Mexico and much more humidity so the plant life is more tropical and lush. Of course, I can't breathe there because of the humidity but the plants are great!
