And On We Go

Here are a few photos of the progress in the front of the house.  I didn't take "before" photos so just picture a dozen or so hawthorn bushes that were not doing particularly well.  I believe we have had so many plant problems because this house was built on rock -- yes, rock -- and topsoil was brought in for landscaping purposes but it isn't all that deep and I think it just can't sustain all the big bushes and such that people have put in.  So, anyway, here is the front --

right side of the gate -- bushes gone

it is a long little stretch of bed

the planting has commenced

yes, he is measuring with a stick -- I don't know who that strange man in the baggy clothes is

still more to come
I will post a picture of the finished product when it is a finished product.

Definitely at the exciting stage when imagination can do wonders!

yes, I hope it grows quickly. Actually, I hope it grows at all with this heat we have been having -- 104 F. Bad stuff.

that heat will certainly do a number on new plants if you don't keep them well watered.

Gill -- yes, he is on a constant watering schedule for right now. In the back we have all the new plants plus a new tree but they are all looking good -- as is the vines we can't get rid of -- growing like -- well, a vine. The front will probably take more water because there is so much concrete around it and just the heat off that is damaging so I guess we can look forward to a massive water bill because I don't see any rain in the forecast any time soon.

Update

Yes, it has been a month — and what a month it has been.  Long story short all the grafts from my husbands bypass surgery have disappeared ...
