I am not gone, just preoccupied with the stuff of life. On March 23 my husband had a stroke from which he completely recovered with no lasting effects. Then on Easter Sunday I had to send him back to the hospital with dangerous hypoglycemia. His blood sugar had tanked. They took him off his insulin and he hasn't had it happen again but his blood sugar is running too high and we are trying to adjust his diet and exercise to maybe make a difference.
So, I am up to my eyeballs in exchange diets and trying how to make fried chicken without actually frying it and -- well, you know -- trying to keep him alive and happy.
So, I will be back with a couple of book reviews. Otherwise all is well, just swamped.

oh dear me, I hope his blood sugar settles down. You take care of yourself as well.
I'm sure you have a tough job thinking up meals that will be tasty and also fit into your husband's diet. Personally I find making meals day after day a chore and I'm lucky because DH eats almost anything I put in front of him.
Thanks, Gill -- I am trying. We are trying to figure out how to get his blood sugar down without taking insulin. It is a challenge!
Hi GM -- yes, it is hard and my husband is a picky eater which makes it even worse. We are working at it together though -- I think basically he needs to quit eating starchy stuff, period. It is a chore for sure.
Life sounds increasingly complicated. Hope the diet routine sorts itself soon - endlessly doing the sums before you can cook must be tedious.
Check out the excellent books by British writer Dr Michael Mosley.they are easy to read, and have good ideas for meals. https://thebloodsugardiet.com.
I'm glad your husband came through the stroke OK. You're in my thoughts and prayers x
Mary -- yes, it is tedious especially for somebody who doesn't care for cooking to begin with. He is off the long acting insulin which created the sleep problems. The sleep problems seem to have abated but we cant get his sugar down to a more acceptable number but we will keep trying. It is truly frustrating but that is better than being scared to death having to call the paramedics when he was practically in a coma.
Good morning, Angela! I will definitely check out the books -- my daughter says I should probably stop using 30 year old books as reference. Thank you, yes, the stroke resolved itself before we ever got to the hospital -- I saw God's hand all over that one -- and the gratitude is overwhelming. Now I am praying for help in figuring out how to deal with the sugar numbers. Maybe you books will help! Thanks!
Prayers for your husband and YOU, BB!
Look up Sweet Ezz on the Youngevity site. They might be worth a try. xoxox
